Aurora Police Department Responds to Fatal Drowning Incident on Treat Road On June 11, 2026, at approximately 4:14 p.m., the Aurora Police Department and emergency rescue crews responded to a critical drowning report on Treat Road. Witnesses reported seeing a male go under the water near a gravel road construction entrance. Although a bystander attempted to help, the victim remained submerged for several minutes before emergency services arrived. Aurora Police, along with local fire crews and a dive team, initiated an immediate water search. The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) was notified and confirmed the incident was not watercraft-related. The operation shifted from a rescue to a recovery effort later that evening, and the Portage County Coroner took possession of the deceased. Aurora officers transported several juveniles from the scene back to the police station to gather statements and notify parents. Just days later, on June 13, police returned to the same Treat Road construction area and cited five juveniles for trespassing after they were found coming out of the water. Amazon Delivery Driver Accused of Property Damage and Public Urination On June 10, 2026, at 8:52 p.m., a resident on Whisperwood Lane contacted Aurora police to report property damage caused by an Amazon delivery driver. According to police records, the driver's delivery vehicle rolled backward and struck the resident's house. In addition to the vehicle collision, the homeowner reported that the delivery driver was observed urinating in the driveway. Arriving officers gathered information and completed a property damage report regarding the incident. Retail Thefts and Criminal Trespassing Reported at Aurora Farms Outlets The Aurora Police Department handled multiple retail theft and trespassing complaints at the business district on South Chillicothe Road between June 9 and June 15, 2026. On June 9, management at the Nike Factory Store reported two separate past-occurred thefts that took place on May 16 and May 21. Later that afternoon, a Nike outlet manager called police to report a repeat offender trespassing on the property. The suspect, described as a male wearing a cutoff shirt and dark shorts, left the scene in an unknown vehicle before officers arrived. On June 15, security personnel at the outlet center reported another retail theft, this time at the New Balance store. Store staff provided responding officers with suspect vehicle license plate information and surveillance footage, noting their intention to press charges.
