AURORA, Ohio – Recent Aurora police reports spanning June 16 to June 23, 2026, detail a wave of financial scams, identity theft investigations, and residential yard thefts across the community. The Aurora Police Department handled a diverse volume of calls, ranging from high-dollar elder exploitation to neighborhood nuisance complaints. This summary breaks down the notable incidents documented by local authorities during this period. Financial Crimes Highlighted in Recent Aurora Police Reports Local authorities opened several high-priority fraud investigations during the third week of June. On June 20, a 79-year-old resident of an assisted living facility on North Aurora Road reported that his daughter had allegedly stolen $77,000 from his bank accounts after placing him in the facility over a year ago. Earlier in the week, on June 16, a woman arrived at the police station to report financial fraud involving a home health aide on behalf of herself, her mother, and her sister. Identity theft was also a recurring theme in recent Aurora police reports. A resident on South Chillicothe Road contacted officers on June 16 after discovering that an individual she had been conversing with online for two years opened a fraudulent Wells Fargo bank account using her personal information. Additionally, on June 23, an identity theft victim on West Garfield Road reported that an unknown suspect had attempted to purchase a vehicle utilizing his stolen credentials. Property Damage and Yard Thefts Reported to Aurora Police The city experienced multiple thefts targeting residential landscaping materials during this reporting window. On June 18, a resident on East Boulevard reported the overnight theft of approximately 90 landscape wood ties, each measuring eight feet in length, from their front lawn. Just two days later, on June 20, another theft was reported on East Boulevard, where a homeowner stated that someone had stolen bricks from his yard between midnight and 4:00 a.m. Minor criminal mischief was also logged on June 20 on Walnut Ridge Trail, where a resident discovered their yard toilet-papered and random items stuffed inside their mailbox. Aurora Police Action on Juvenile and Animal Complaints Aurora police officers managed multiple community-level disturbances involving minors and loose animals. Late in the evening on June 19, dispatch received a complaint regarding approximately five juveniles causing a disturbance at a community pool located near West Parkway Boulevard. Responding officers successfully contacted the parents and transported the youths home. Hours later, on North Aurora Road, two juvenile males received formal criminal trespass warnings after repeatedly entering a local convenience store, bothering customers, and attempting to buy cigarettes. Animal control concerns were also addressed by responding personnel. On June 19, medical personnel and police responded to Kingston Drive after a resident's dog bit a 52-year-old man on the arm. The injury was managed after the dog was successfully contained in a bedroom. On June 21, an animal complaint was logged on Lake Avenue regarding a neighbor's pit bull frequently running at large.
