Aurora Police Blotter: High-Speed Pursuit and Identity Theft Reports

AURORA, Ohio – The following reports were released by the Aurora Police Department for the period of December 31, 2025, through January 6, 2026.Street Light Split in Half On December 31 at approximately 10:12 a.m., a resident reported that their son had been driving the previous evening on Club Drive near the guard house when he slid on ice. The vehicle struck a street light, splitting the pole in half and resulting in two flat tires on the driver's side. The driver was able to get a ride home and have the vehicle moved. On January 2, the HOA president contacted police to facilitate the exchange of insurance information between the driver and the neighborhood association for the private property damage.Intoxicated Subject Officers and EMS responded to North Aurora Road at 3:31 a.m. on January 3 regarding a 31-year-old female who was reported to be highly intoxicated. When dispatchers asked if drugs were involved, the caller stated that responders could ask the subject upon arrival. Police units arrived on the scene to assist, and the female was evaluated by the squad before being transported for further care.High-Speed Pursuit A white four-door Mercedes was observed traveling at a high rate of speed on West Garfield Road at 2:51 a.m. on January 3. The vehicle had previously passed a Twinsburg officer at a high rate of speed. An Aurora officer attempted a traffic stop near Craddock, but the driver failed to comply, maintaining speeds of 70 mph on East Garfield. The pursuit reached speeds between 90 and 100 mph as the vehicle approached the town line, at which point the pursuit was terminated. Later reports from Twinsburg PD indicated the vehicle had struck a camera earlier that morning and was eventually picked up by a Flock camera in Lorain.K9 Track and Domestic Violence Arrest Police were called to Creek View Drive at 8:50 a.m. on January 4 after a caller reported being attacked by her son. The suspect fled the residence on foot into the woods wearing grey capri pants and a white shirt. Officers, including a K9 unit, began tracking the suspect south into the woods, eventually locating him to the west of the property. The male was taken into custody and charged with domestic violence. EMS was requested to the scene due to allegations of strangulation, though the victim ultimately refused transport.Warrant Arrest A male arrived at the Aurora Police station on January 5 at 10:42 a.m. He informed officers that he had just come from court and needed to be booked in. Officers confirmed he had an outstanding felony warrant and processed the booking without incident.Vehicle Vandalism A resident on Canterbury contacted police on January 5 to report damage to her vehicle. The owner stated that the car was parked at her residence and she discovered damage to the hood when she went to leave for work that morning.Identity Theft and Fraud Two reports of financial crimes were filed this week. On January 3, a male arrived at the station to report that his identity had been stolen. On January 6, a representative from a senior living facility on North Aurora Road filed a fraud report. Both cases are pending further investigation.
