AURORA, Ohio – The Aurora Police Department handled a wide range of calls between March 10 and March 17, 2026, ranging from identity theft and mental health crises to neighborhood disputes and warrant arrests. Notable incidents included a "ding-dong ditch" complaint involving property damage and a report of a vehicle driving into a resident's front yard. Identity Theft and Financial Fraud ReportsOn March 13, 2026, a male arrived at the police station to report a case of wire fraud. The incident, involving the company Godfrey & Wing, was documented for further investigation. Additionally, a representative from Ganley Chevrolet reported a lost dealer plate on March 12. The plate reportedly fell off a vehicle somewhere between Aurora, Ohio, and Ellwood City, Pennsylvania, while traveling on the Ohio and Pennsylvania Turnpikes. Juvenile Complaints and Neighborhood DisputesOfficers responded to a juvenile complaint on Chadwick Drive late in the evening on March 13. A resident reported that individuals had been "ding-dong ditching" their home three times within an hour, resulting in damage to a screen door. The homeowner provided video evidence showing two males in hoodies. Police located four juveniles and transported them to a residence where they were released to their parents. In another neighborhood matter, a resident on West Homestead Drive reported on March 14 that a neighbor's dog had allegedly attacked their pet. While no injuries were found, the owner of the other dog—an 8-year-old Chocolate Lab—stated the dog had simply escaped her leash. She was advised regarding "dog at large" regulations. Mental Health Crisis and Welfare ChecksOn March 13, police and EMS responded to Reids Way for a 26-year-old male who had ingested a large quantity of prescription medication. The individual was reportedly manic and paranoid, accusing his parents of stealing his medication. He was "pink slipped" and transported to a local hospital for evaluation. On March 17, another mental health call was received from Lena Drive involving a female requesting a squad; no weapons were involved in the incident. Traffic Stops and Warrant ArrestsSeveral traffic stops led to vehicle tows and arrests throughout the week:Campus Drive: On March 10, a driver was cited for fictitious plates and operating a vehicle without a valid license. Aurora Road: On March 15, a stop near a Speedway resulted in the confirmation of a warrant out of the Geauga County Sheriff's Office. South Chillicothe Road: A driver was cited for Driving Under Suspension (DUS) on March 15 and taken to the station to obtain a tow release after a warrant check. Eaton Drive: On March 16, a homeowner returning from vacation discovered a person inside their home who was subsequently arrested on a felony warrant. Property Damage and Suspicious ActivityEarly in the morning on March 17, a resident on East Boulevard reported a small red vehicle had driven into their front yard and become stuck. No damage was sustained by the vehicle, but the homeowner requested photos of the tracks in the yard. On March 16, a resident on Bartlett Road requested a "special watch" after a suspicious sedan sped away from the front of their house.
