AURORA, Ohio – The Aurora Police Department responded to several criminal reports and public safety incidents between April 15 and April 29, 2026. The department's activity during this period included multiple investigations into retail theft, a significant identity fraud case involving a local resident, and several arrests related to driving under suspension (DUS) and outstanding warrants.Aurora Police Investigate Thefts and Identity Fraud CasesRetail theft remained a primary concern for local law enforcement during the second half of April. On April 20, officers were dispatched to a retail location on S Chillicothe Rd where approximately $1,379 worth of merchandise was reported stolen the previous day. Another retail theft was reported on April 23 at a business on N Chillicothe Rd, where loss prevention personnel provided information regarding a suspect to the responding officers.In addition to physical thefts, the department handled a complex identity fraud case. On April 17, a resident on Eggleston Rd reported receiving notification from a bank in Parma that an individual was attempting to use her identification to withdraw funds. While the local victim suffered no immediate financial loss, Parma Heights police later apprehended a female suspect in connection with the case, charging her with identity fraud and passing bad checks.DUS Citations and Aurora Police Traffic EnforcementTraffic enforcement resulted in several citations for individuals operating vehicles with suspended licenses. On April 15, a traffic stop on S Chillicothe Rd led to a driver being cited for DUS after a search of the vehicle yielded improperly transported marijuana and paraphernalia. A similar stop occurred on April 17 on S Chillicothe Rd, where a female driver was cited for DUS and a male passenger was taken into custody.Late-night patrols also led to an OVI arrest on April 29. Officers checking a vehicle parked on the side of the road on Riverglen Drive conducted field testing on the driver, who was subsequently taken into custody and charged with operating a vehicle without being in reasonable control.Warrant Arrests and Mutual Aid ResponsesThe Aurora Police Department assisted other agencies and executed several warrant arrests. On April 20, officers located a female on Michigan between Moneta and Orchard who had an outstanding warrant; she was taken into custody and later turned over to Ravenna authorities. On April 23, Glenwillow Police contacted Aurora regarding another individual with an active warrant, resulting in a prisoner transfer and transport to the local jail.
