The Aurora Police Department handled a variety of criminal investigations and public safety calls between May 7 and May 13, 2026. Significant activity included an OVI arrest following a pursuit, the enforcement of a temporary protection order, and multiple reports of identity fraud and scams. Officers also responded to several disturbance calls involving family disputes and trespassing.OVI Arrest Follows Reckless Driving and PursuitA major traffic incident occurred early on May 10 on Chillicothe Road near Crackel Road. A caller reported a gray Honda Civic that ran a red light at City Hall, lost control, and nearly entered a ditch. The vehicle initially failed to pull over for officers, eventually rolling into the grass at Miller School. The driver was taken into custody for an OVI with a blood-alcohol concentration (BAC) recorded at over .17.Aurora Police Enforce Protection Order ViolationsOn May 8, a traffic stop at Aurora Road and Moneta Avenue led to the arrest of a male driver. During the stop, officers confirmed a protection order was in place. The driver was charged with violating the protection order and transported to the Portage County Jail. In a separate incident on May 7, police were called to Lakeland Way for a trespassing report involving a nephew who refused to leave a residence. The individual was eventually located in the area and advised not to return.Scams and Fraud Affect Aurora ResidentsMultiple residents reported financial crimes at the station during this period. On May 9, a resident on Moneta Avenue reported being scammed after paying for landscaping services that were never provided. Later that day, another fraud report was filed concerning a teacher’s email that was compromised and used to post items for sale that did not exist. Additionally, on May 8, a resident of Royal Oak Drive came to the station to report an incident of general theft and fraud.Warrant Arrests and DisturbancesAurora officers assisted other agencies with several warrant arrests:Misdemeanor Warrant: On May 8, a driver on Orchard Avenue was found to have an active warrant and was transferred to another agency at a local Speedway.Summit County Warrant: On May 9, a male was stopped on S Chillicothe Road and taken into custody on a warrant from Summit County.Felony Warrant: On May 12, a female was arrested on a felony warrant at the Aurora Police Department and transported to the county jail.Officers also intervened in a disturbance on May 13 near Aurora Commons Circle. Witnesses reported parents yelling at a young child outside a local business. A female involved was taken into custody and transported to the county jail after becoming combative with officers.
