Aurora Police Reports: Gun Threats, Stolen Van Crash, and VFW Vandalism
AURORA, Ohio – The Aurora Police Department addressed a variety of calls between January 21 and January 29, 2026, ranging from identity theft and mental health welfare checks to criminal damaging and domestic violence. Officers intervened in several high-intensity situations, including a welfare check on East Boulevard where a father reported his daughter was threatening to get a gun. The caller informed dispatchers that the woman claimed "people were going to die" and believed she may have been mixing prescribed medications with other substances. A squad was eventually called to the scene for a mental health evaluation. In the early hours of January 23, police were called to a residence on Belcourt Lane for a domestic violence report. According to police records, the situation escalated after a male resident discovered a female was cheating on him. The female reportedly became combative and attempted to leave the residence in a black Ford Edge, backing the vehicle into a garage door in the process. She then allegedly attempted to take the caller's vehicle. Officers noted that the male had visible bite marks on his arms. A 21-year-old female was subsequently taken into custody and transported to the county jail on charges of knowingly causing physical harm. The week’s most significant traffic incident occurred on January 24 on Bissell Road. Officers responded to a head-on collision involving a white Ram Promaster truck and a black Jeep. While investigating the crash, which required emergency medical services for a male with a possible concussion, it was discovered that the white van had been recently purchased and stolen from Oakwood Village. The vehicle had not yet been entered as stolen in the law enforcement database at the time of the crash. Both vehicles were towed from the scene, and two males were later provided a courtesy transport to a nearby gas station in Streetsboro.Vandalism was reported at the Aurora VFW on North Aurora Road on January 29. A male suspect with shaggy hair reportedly attempted to enter the building to place an order but was refused service because he did not have a membership card. In response, the individual allegedly broke the door to the building before fleeing in a white Ford Super Duty truck. Officers located the vehicle shortly after in front of a local antique store. A male suspect was identified and charged with vandalism, specifically for damaging property necessary for business operations. On the evening of January 29, officers responded to a juvenile complaint on Emerald Court. The report involved a juvenile runaway who was last seen wearing a green jacket. Police conducted a search of the area and worked with the family to gather information regarding the juvenile's possible whereabouts. Other reports from the period included a fraud case on Dorset Court where a resident reported checks being cashed twice, and a male who visited the police lobby on January 27 to report an assault of a sexual nature.
