Aurora Police Serve Felony Warrant, Accept Firearm and Find Pills in Tow
Reports from Sept. 30 to Oct. 6 also include a fraud complaint, a driving under suspension stop and a welfare check

Aurora police handled a wide range of calls from Sept. 30 to Oct. 6, according to the department’s incident summary. The reports include a felony warrant pickup, a firearm charge, a citation for driving under suspension and a welfare check. Names and house numbers are left out of this summary. Warrants and arrests Officers picked up a man on a felony warrant on Hill Drive on Oct. 1. The call came in at 7:28 a.m. Dispatch noted that several units would respond to take him into custody. One person was in custody by 7:41 a.m. A hit confirmation went to the Portage County Sheriff’s Office. An officer was told he could take the man directly to the county jail. The warrant was confirmed, and the officer headed to the sheriff’s office sally port. Firearms and 911 calls A 911 hang up on East Pioneer Trail at 4:15 a.m. on Oct. 1 led to a firearm charge. Dispatch heard an open line and a female in distress, with no further conversation. Dispatch searched for the address, and officers were sent. An officer advised at 4:44 a.m. that the check up was OK. Officers later reported heading to the station with a male, and a sally port entry followed. The report lists a charge of improperly discharging a firearm at or into a habitation or school. It does not describe what led to the charge. Victim information was redacted under Ohio’s public records law. On Oct. 2, a woman cleaning out a basement on South Sussex Court found a firearm in a box. She told police the discovery came after her husband’s death. She did not want the firearm and asked to turn it over to police. The report says the firearm was in her car in the front lot. Traffic and driving offenses Suspended driver cited on Kimberly Drive A traffic stop on Kimberly Drive near Aurora Hudson began at 11:38 a.m. on Sept. 30. A records check on the pickup showed a suspended status. Officers determined the driver was driving under suspension and cited him. They found no contraband inside the vehicle, and the vehicle was towed. Wrong way driving complaint leads to warrant and pills in tow Callers reported erratic driving on South Aurora Road and Route 43 on the evening of Oct. 2. The first call came in at 7 p.m. The caller described a beige four door sedan driving on the wrong side of the road. The caller said it almost hit them head on. The sedan was headed south from Meijer. A second caller reported a gold Chevy all over the roadway on Route 43, also headed south. Officers made contact with a vehicle by about 7:10 p.m. A records check showed the male driver had hits from Brook Park and Parma police. Confirmations were sent to both agencies. Brook Park advised that the driver could be advised and released. Parma officers arranged to meet at a GetGo on Transportation Boulevard to pick him up. The report lists a misdemeanor warrant. The vehicle was towed, and an inventory turned up pills. Officers found 22 buprenorphine and naloxone pills in a prescription bottle belonging to the registered owner. Four blue Xanax pills were also inside. The Xanax pills were confiscated and will be logged into evidence. Officers tagged the evidence at the station by about 7:55 p.m. Property, fraud and trespass Lost wallet Two people came to the police lobby at 12:47 p.m. on Sept. 30 to report a lost or stolen wallet and ID. One of them already had a new ID issued. The BMV had guided the person to file a report. The wallet was possibly left at Costco two to three days earlier. Officers helped the pair contact Streetsboro and Boston Heights police. Business fraud report A man reported a fraud involving his company at 2:33 p.m. on Sept. 30. The address given on Barrington Town Square Drive is where the business receives its mail. Officers gathered information for the report. Unknown kayak on North Aurora Road A caller doing maintenance on North Aurora Road on Oct. 1 found an unknown boat parked on the property. The boat had an Ohio tag, and the caller did not know who owned it. He asked police to check it and met officers at the gate by his white pickup truck. An officer found a gray kayak pulled up to the beach. There was no damage to the area. Marijuana was seized as contraband and transferred to a report. Welfare checks Police were called to West Garfield Road at 12:47 p.m. on Oct. 6 for a mental health issue. The report describes a black GMC with one occupant. An officer was asked to contact Orange police to look for family or contact information for the man, who had dementia related issues. A records check found no history on the man by name. An Orange officer and the man’s son both headed to Aurora to try to get him home with no medical intervention. The man was picked up along with his truck and his dog.
