Heritage Development Company Announces the Upcoming Closure of The Bertram Inn and Conference Center Located in Aurora, Ohio

AURORA, Ohio (October 6, 2026) The Bertram Inn and Conference Center located at 600 North Aurora Road will close its doors effective January 2027. The restaurant operations will continue and all existing room reservations, weddings and corporate conferences scheduled between now and the closing date will proceed as planned. Any outstanding gift cards will be accepted through the end of the year. Inquiries regarding current reservations can be directed to General Manager, Derrick Bryan at (330) 995-0200. The 180,000 square foot property was constructed from neo-classical Western Reserve architecture with multiple ballrooms, outdoor spaces including an amphitheater and 220 guest rooms. The Bertram opened in 2000 and was built by Heritage Development Company, under the ownership of Iris and Bart Wolstein. Contiguous to the Barrington Golf Club Community, also developed by the Wolsteins, The Bertram has served thousands of events. Nationally known for hosting the NFL Rookie Symposium from 2012 to 2015, it also received attention for its brief appearance in the Kevin Costner film, Draft Day. The Leopard restaurant has been recognized by AAA with the prestigious 4 Diamond Award and the hotel has been named a Knot Best of Weddings pick every year since 2007. "After 26 years we have decided it is time to exit hospitality operations in this location. It was truly a legacy project for Iris and Bart and combined with their development of Barrington made the center of Aurora a beautiful spot. The market for a hotel in this location has changed over the last 20 years and it is no longer the best use of this property," said George Kimson, COO of Heritage Development. He continued, "We currently have an interested buyer that would maintain and improve the existing buildings, but will need a variance from the city. We look forward to working with both parties to get this done." Frequently asked questions When will The Bertram Inn and Conference Center close?
